I've seen Carlos only a couple of times overseas and Stone Temple Pilots 6 times in 20 years. Even a couple of times at the Ampitheartre, his "band" performed far more than he did. The guitar rifts were still there, but it was still Stone Temple Pilots. This time it was on the edge of disappointing, there was a bit of this at the same venue two years ago. He really played less than half the show, chosing to showcase individual solos from band members, and he did few of the vocals. No Evil Ways, or Samba Pa Ti, or OYe Coimo Va, no Black Magic Woman. *sigh* ... why does he think 50 year olds pay $125 a seat to see him? A lot of gray hair in the big devoted crowd would like to have heard the old stuff. I'm glad he's still up there, even with the political commentary. So, I put the Abraxas CD in the player and drove home remembering the good years on stage.
